Happy New Year!

Well we had a pretty great week!  It was so great to be able to talk to you guys!!  And being able to see all the cousins and stuff for a minute was a great time!!

So this week was pretty crazy.  Let's see...well first off, all of our investigators are doing really well!  Although we are going to be pushing Sister Armstrong's baptism back a couple weeks.  Probably to January 17.  We just need a bit more time to make sure she has it all down.  She's doing really well though!

On Christmas Eve we had a great lesson with a guy named Jose.  We just talked to him on the street one day and he invited us over to share a Christmas Message.  So we went and did that and at the end he asked us for a Book of Mormon and wanted us to come back and teach him more!  So that was super cool! He's awesome.  And then we did some service for Brother Alvarado.  The Wright family fed us dinner and it was delicious!  The rest of Christmas Eve was pretty much spent playing santa.  We delivered some Christmas presents to some people in the ward, and then we had to deliver all the Christmas packages to the rest of the Zone.  It took pretty much all night.

On Christmas we did our weekly planning, and then we skyped of course!  And then we had dinner at a members house, and then we spent most of the day delivering Christmas Cards to our investigators.  We didn't really teach very many lessons, but we were able to see a lot of people and wish them Merry Christmas.  And we had a really good lesson with Sis Armstrong and David. We went over the baptismal interview questions with them.  They are both really close to being baptized!  It's awesome!

And we had exchanges with the AP's the next day which went really well!  I really love Elder Darro.  He is such a cool guy.  We are good friends haha. Pretty much all our appointments fell through, but we did have one really solid lesson with the Sardar's.  They are so amazing!  Even though they don't understand everything fully yet, we can tell they are just so converted.  It's awesome.  Elder Darro and I also went to our favorite restaurant (P&G's) and the owner Pete (who loves us) gave us some hats for Christmas!  I'll send a pic haha.

On Saturday we had a mission wide conference.  Elder Higham of the Fifth Quorum of the Seventy came and spoke to us!  It was so awesome!!  I learned a TON and I've already seen a big difference as we have applied the principles we learned.  He spoke mostly about prayer, and helping our investigators pray.  And President Miskin and President Madson (the counselors in the mission presidency) spoke a lot about Christ.  How he was the perfect teacher and we dissected all the prayers that Jesus gave in the scriptures.  It was great!

And that night a member of the Bloomington ward took us to meet some of their friends and we had a great lesson with them!  So now they are our new investigators as well!

So as you can see, we just had a great week.  Christmas time is awesome!

Sounds like you had a great week too!  I saw a preview of Unbroken at a restaurant and it looks amazing!  I really want to see that one.  I loved the book! I'm glad you've all had a good time in Mississippi though!  I love that place haha.

Well, I hope you all have a great week!!  Happy New Year!! Love you all!!

Ocha Heh (It's Good!)

I'm pretty sure I'm going to be fluent in Urdu by the time I leave this place.  Hopefully anyway!  It's such a fun language!

Anyways, this week was chaos.  After finding out that Elder Webb was leaving last Monday, pretty much the whole day was spent packing up all his stuff.  Then Tuesday was spent saying goodbye to a lot of people.  We had some good solid lessons though before Webb left.  Everyone was very sad.  Then came Wednesday.  In the morning we drove around and picked up a bunch of Elders and all their stuff.  This was made difficult because it was pouring rain!  Everyone's stuff in the back of the truck was pretty soaked.  But hey, it turned out alright.  Then we spent the next several hours in a training meeting.  Where I met my new companion.  His name is Elder Cook!  He is from good ole American Fork Utah.  Although he didn't go to AF High School.  He went to Lehi.  So he doesn't know anyone I know.  Lame! He's cool though.  He's had quite a week.  Waaaay different then my first week in the mission haha.  My first week we had no phone, no area book, no investigators, nothing.

Wednesday afternoon was spent driving other missionaries around and picking up bikes for them and such.  The joys of being a ZL haha.

Then we get to Thursday.  A large part of the day was spent doing service!  We worked at the food pantry again, and then we went and helped my favorite old man.  Brother Alvarado.  He's the best.  That night we had a great lesson with Sister Armstrong.  And guess who else was there!?  David!  Carlos' brother!  He's back!  We taught them both the Word of Wisdom (that's what they both struggle with)  And it was great!  David is on date again for February 21, and we were able to find out some things about Sister Armstrong that totally change everything!  She is going to be baptized on Jan 3rd!  The main thing that was holding her back is no longer an issue!  I just about cried cause I was so happy.  It was legit!

We pretty much spent all day on Friday delivering packages to the missionaries in the zone.  And bikes too.  In my zone we have 27 missionaries, and they almost all had christmas packages that needed to be delivered.  So we played Santa on friday.  It'll probably happen again today, because we had to make a trip to the mission office and we picked up a dozen more.  Fun stuff!

Yesterday was pretty good.  We had several investigators at church, and we had a great lesson with our investigators Jesus, Maria, and Angie.  By the end of this week they will probably be on date to be baptized as well! So things are just coming together around here!  It's great!

Sounds like everything is pretty crazy back home haha!  I'm glad you all made it to Mississippi alright!  It sounds like it was quite the ordeal haha.  Snowbird sounds awesome though!  I am really jealous.

I'm super excited to skype on Thursday!  We will be going over to the members house at noon, our time.  So that's probably like what, 3 for you guys?  I will probably call dads cell first, to let you know I'm on.  And then we will only have 45 minutes to talk.  :(  So have some stuff ready to talk about haha!

I got all the packages!  The candy is delicious!!  And the new pants came and they fit beautifully!  As long as I don't gain any more weight, we will be great!  And I've gotten a lot of the cards, but I am definitely missing a few of them haha.  I'm sure they will trickle in eventually.

Well, I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas!!  I can't wait to talk to you!  Love you all!

We played soccer last P-day.  I am so outta shape!

We took one last selfie with Sis Jones (curly hair) and Elder Webb before they left us.  Luckily Sis Anderson is still here.

Elder Webb and Julian.  So adorable.

Last selfie with Elder Webb and our cuties from Thanksgiving.  Can't believe they've lasted so long.

Baradin Mubarak!

So, we've been taking Urdu lessons from the Sardars, and Baradin Mubarak means Merry Christmas!! Well, when directly translated it means happy big day, but that's what they say! It's crazy that Christmas is next week!  I'm pretty stoked.

Alright.  The big news.  We found out about transfers today.  Elder Webb is outta here!  I'm staying in Colton for another Transfer!! It's crazy! I have been here so long.  Elder Webb is being transferred to Redlands, and his new companion is Elder Raff!!  I'm so jealous!!  I miss that guy.  You are probably wondering who my new companion is.  Well I don't know.  I'm going to be training a new missionary!  So I won't find out who he is until Wednesday.  And to make it more exciting I'm the only zone leader now.  So this next transfer is going to be very exciting!

As far as the zone goes, there were quite a few changes.  One of the sisters serving in the Colton ward with me, Sister Jones, is going out to the desert, and a few of the other missionaries are leaving as well.  It's kinda crazy, because now, all the missionaries who came to this zone two transfers after I did, have now left.  Jones was the last one.  I'm just out-lasting everyone haha.

This week was pretty good.  We went on exchanges with some elders.  Elder Hunter and Elder Andrew.  I like them a lot.  I got to go on bike with Elder Andrew and we had a real good time.  We also weekly planned with some of the other elders which went really well.

All of our investigators are doing pretty good as well.  Although we are struggling to put them all on date.  It's coming along though.  Lazarus is the only on on date currently.  He is so awesome!

Well, sounds like everything is going well at home.  That's crazy that Nick is leaving already!  I can't believe he couldn't tie a tie haha.

I'm glad Sadie had fun at the Dance!  That's awesome!

Kelsey is getting home?!  That's crazy too haha!  Time flies haha

GG has a time share at Snow Bird??  How is it that I am just finding out about this!?!?  That's awesome!

I haven't gotten some of the stuff you've sent.  I did get both of the big packages.  They are withholding mail because of transfers.  But I'll be able to pick it all up on Wednesday.

Well, I hope you all have a great week!! Love you all!

Miracles Do Happen!

Well, this week was pretty darn good.  I have to say.  There's lot's of good news, but also some bad news.  Bad news first?  Yes.  Brother Angel crashed again.  Not sure how soon it'll be until we see him again.  He kinda told us not to come by unless he calls us first.  Sad day.

On to the good news!  Well, let's start with the miracle.  So, we are sitting there in church, waiting for sacrament meeting to start, when we notice a guy sitting on the back row.  Never seen him before, and he didn't look like a member.  So,, obviously, we went and talked to him.  His name is Jeremy.  And his girlfriends name is Candace.  Haha jk #PhineasandFerb.  Anyways,  Jeremy ended up staying all three hours and we found out some interesting things.  1)  He used to be Christian, until about 3 or so years ago when he decided God didn't exist, so he's been Atheist the last couple years.  But recently he's had some experiences in his life that have changed his mind.  2) He knows quite a bit about Mormons already, because he was learned it all so as to be better able to bash with missionaries.  and 3) He's awesome!  He seems really solid.  You could say he has "Real Intent".  So awesome!

The other miracle of the week happened yesterday as well.  We went to go see Jesus (I think I mentioned him a couple weeks ago) and we were able to pick up his wife and sister-in-law as new investigators!  So that was awesome.

This week we had MLC too!  It was awesome.  We learned a lot.  The main focus was planning, and using How To Begin Teaching from PMG.  That was on tuesday, and then we had Zone Meeting on Thursday.  Which went really well.  Sister Van Cott came to the ZM too.  It seems as though every single zone meeting we have is attended by someone of higher authority haha.  Either President shows up, his wife, or the APs.  They must be worried about what I will teach the other missionaries haha.

We also had exchanges this week with the AP's.  It was so fun!  I got to go with Elder Darro again and it was awesome.  He's a great guy.

Well, it sounds like things are going well back home!  I can't wait to get some of that homemade candy haha!  So good! Glad everything is going well.  Hope you all have a fantastic week!

Love, Elder Wise

P.S.  The big box came today.  It's at the office.  We are probably going over there to pick it up.  It's going to be so hard not to open it! I'll do my best.  Thanks so much for everything!  Love you!

Woohoo!

Well this last week was pretty fantastic!!  So many fun things happened!  Let's see, well Thanksgiving was pretty fun!  We made a ton of hand turkeys that we gave to members in the ward, and made some other things for the members of the ward council.  They all loved it!  That was pretty much all we did all day was make and deliver cards to people.  And then we ate dinner.  It wasn't your traditional style thanksgiving dinner.  Which was kinda sad.  I missed my mashed potatoes and gravy.  But it was still really delicious!  We ate dinner at a mexican families house so we ate a mexican style dinner.  It was a sandwich with turkey, lettuce, some spicy mexican stuff, cucumbers, mayo, and I can't even remember it all.  It was a huge sandwich though.  I was stuffed!  And then a bunch of members gave us pies so that was awesome! It was a really good day.

These are the cuties we delivered to the ward council.

We also went on exchanges with some Elders in our zone so that was a good time!  It's fun to get out of the area sometimes and see some new faces.

The biggest miracle of the week happened on Sunday.  We were just there, minding our own business, when all of a sudden, he appears.  We hadn't seen him in over a month and it was making us so sad.  It was Brother Angel!!!!!!! He was looking good too!  White shirt and tie with dress pants!  It was so awesome!  He told us that he's spent the last few weeks just shut up in his house reading anti-mormon material on the internet.  But he finally just decided that he didn't agree with it and that if he really wanted to learn what the mormons believed, he should just go to church.  So he woke up Sunday morning and went to both Bloomington and Colton ward sacrament meetings!  He is so awesome!!  It was so great to see how the Lord softened his heart and helped him to see through all the Anti stuff.  It was awesome.  We almost cried.

The next biggest adventure happened this morning!  We got a call last night from Elder Bird and his comp Elder Nock and they had some spare seats in their member's car, and they invited us to take a trip to Palm Springs to ride on the Tram!!  President gave us permission to go!  It was so legit!  We left around 8 this morning, and got back about 45 minutes ago.  It was so fun!!  Fun fact:  The Palm Springs tram is the Tram that Mike Rowe worked on in an episode of Dirty Jobs.  Heck yeah!  Oh and another awesome thing that happened was this.  Do you remember my investigator Sherry that we were teaching when I was in the Park View Ward?  Well, she works at a restaurant at the top of the tram, and I totally saw her there!  It was so cool!  I guess she's moving to Utah in a couple weeks.  So we just barely caught her before she left!  That was super cool.  I took a ton of pics.  Close to a hundred I think.  Then on the way home from PS we stopped in Cabazon and walked around in this hugely massive outlet mall.  It was unreal.  We walked into a few stores, and then walked right back out after we saw the price tags haha.  They were some nice stores.

The Tram

Elder Bird and I atop the mountain.
Palm Springs

So yeah, that's really all the super exciting things that have been going on.  It was a great time!  All our investigators are doing really well.  Missionary work is great!

Well, as a result from our trip this morning, we are pretty rushed for time.  Sounds like you all had a great week!!  Hope this one is just as good!!  Love you all!

Thanksgiving!!

Woohoo!  Thanksgiving is coming up!  That's going to be bomb.  I'm excited.

This last week was pretty good!  Let's start with the B-Day.  Somehow everyone found out that it was my birthday and everyone wanted to feed me.  So we ended up eating like 5 or 6 meals that day.  I was so full.  It started in the morning.  I was craving some butterscotch rolls so I made those for breakfast, and then the Sisters brought a bunch of peanut butter bars to District Meeting to celebrate.  Then after that we went to lunch at P&G's which was delicious.  And then we had dinner with the Jones family, who made Burgers and Cake.  Delicious!  And then we went over to the Sardars that night, and they made us an entire dinner as well.  So I was super stuffed that day haha.  It was awesome though!  And I got the packages and letters!!  I love the new hoodie!  It's super comfy!  And I loved all the letters!  I got Lucie's haha.  Good ol Whoopy cushions!! I love it!

This week we were finally able to volunteer for a service project off of JustServe.org.  There hasn't been a project in our area up to this point so we weren't able to do it, but now we have a few different ones!! On Thursday we volunteered at a Food Pantry and helped prep a bunch of food bags to be handed out to people in the community. It was pretty fun!  We are probably going to go back and help out again this Friday.

Friday night was our ward's Thanksgiving party.  They had a big dinner and stuff.  The Sardars and the Shad's and Sister Armstrong all were able to make it and they had a great time!  It was really fun!

The sad part of the week was that pretty much every set appointment we had fell through.  It was kind of a bummer.  We weren't able to do a whole lot of teaching this week.  But that's ok!  This week is looking like it's going to be awesome!  We are going to put the Sardars on date for January hopefully.  We kept trying to do it this week, but like I said, nothing was working out.  Sadly there aren't any baptisms set for Christmas time or anything.  But there should be quite a few in January!  And we have really been focusing on finding new investigators lately.  Which is turning out to be quite the challenge. But, we'll just keep trying I guess.

Well, it sounds like things are going well back home!  I can't believe it's snowing and stuff haha!  That's so fun! Yeah it's been pretty chilly around here.  Around 70-75.  Brrrr.  haha

Well, I hope you all have a fantastic week!! Happy Thanksgiving!!
Love, Elder Wise

P.S.  The church is true
My new jacket!

And last night for dinner we had a frying party!  We just fried up everything and everything.  This is a plate of all the things we tried!  My new favorite thing to fry is Twinkies.  Hands down.  Soooo good!  The Poptarts were pretty bomb too.  haha

Colton:Take 7

And there goes week one of my 7th transfer in Colton.  It wasn't too bad!  Plus, it even cooled down which was really nice.  I think I even wore a jacket one day.  Which is sad.  I'm now one of those wimpy Californians who are freezing when it's like 70.  Utah is gonna be tough next year haha.

Let's see, well on Monday we picked up a new investigator.  Her name is Michelle Cash.  She lives in the same apartment complex as Carlos and Grace. That's pretty much just where all of our investigators come from.  Which works out cause then they have like half a dozen perfect fellowshippers.  It's great! She's really cool.

We did have some baptisms scheduled for this last Saturday but they didn't quite happen.  In fact, Brother Angel (who was so golden it was ridiculous)  has pretty much vanished from off the face of the earth.  We don't know what happened really but he ignores us and won't answer the door even though we know he's in there.  It's really sad.

Sister Armstrong is still doing well.  Although she's been kinda sick lately.  And she keeps going out of town for random reasons so that's no good.  She's been thinking and praying about a baptism date though.  So hopefully she will be baptized here in the next month or two.

We had a zone conference this last week as well which was super awesome!!  We talked about two main things.  Conversion, and the Book of Mormon.  It was really really good.  I learned lots about the process of conversion, and how to ask inspired questions and answer them with the Book of Mormon.  Since it's the book of Mormon that really does all the conversion.  They tied together quite nicely.

Church yesterday was pretty good.  Lazarus and Gloria were able to make it again, along with a couple other investigators.  My favorite part though was that my favorite little kid, Angel Pasillas (the one who was going to be baptized, but moved away right before), came back and went to church with us!! It was great to see him.  Plus, it's really cool cause it turns out that one of his best friends is Raul Santiago, who we baptized last month.  So they were hanging out and having a good time.  And Raul's big brother Angel was able to get the Aaronic Priesthood yesterday as well!  So next week he'll be passing the sacrament!  It's just so awesome!

I did get the package you sent!  Don't worry, I haven't opened it yet.  Although I've been tempted.  I'm sure I'll love it! Thanks so much!

Glad to hear everything is going well at home!  Sound freezing!  I'm kinda jealous and kinda not haha.  I do miss snow though.

congrats on getting your drivers license Sadie!  That's sweet!  Just don't crash my car :)

Well, thanks for everything!!  Hope you have a fantastic week!! Love you all!

Where Am I Going?

Well, here's the question...Am I getting transferred??  The answer is............No!!  I'm staying here in Colton for at least 5 more weeks!!  (This transfer is a week shorter, due to Christmas.  Next transfer will be a week longer.)  So yay!!  That's pretty exciting.  At this point I am hoping I'll stay for another transfer after this one, the reason being that if I do I'll have been here almost a whole year, and also, I'll get to see Carlos' and Grace's baby be born!!  That would be pretty cool.  Grace says the baby already recognizes my  voice haha. Every time we go over the baby starts kicking.  Fun stuff.

Well, this week has been pretty crazy!!  Some really cool things went down.  First off, the Galvez Family got baptized!!  It went really well.  Their confirmations yesterday went smoothly as well.  I'll send some pics.

Elder Wise, Elder Webb, Fabian, Silvia, Ashley, Richard, Elder Woolf

The other really fun part of the week was that I went on exchanges with Elder Seright again!  It was really fun.  But you won't believe this.  We went to the Asian Buffet for dinner, and I ate octopus.  Yup.  Aren't you proud of me?  It kinda reminded me of chicken heart.  But more rubbery.  It had no taste.  I'll send some pics of that too.

We got a lot of investigators at church yesterday too!  Well, 5.  I've told you about the family from Kuwait we are teaching right?  Well a few of them were able to make it to church yesterday. It was total chaos though, for a number of reasons.  But, suffice to say, it all worked out.  So that was great!

Oh, we got a new truck too!  The old one we were driving was getting old so they replaced it with a brand new 2015 Nissan Frontier!  It's soooooo nice!  I really enjoy it.  We switched them out at MLC on Thursday.  Which went really well!  Almost the entire meeting was focused on Finding new investigators.  It was really great!

I got the package of goodness!!  Thanks so much!!  Everything arrived in great condition.  So yummy! Thanks!

That's so fun that the Sisters were able to make it over!  Sounded like a great time!!

Well, I'm about outta time today.  The library is crowded!  Have a great week!!

What A Week

Well, this week turned out a lot differently than expected.  We had a lot of lessons planned and they pretty much all fell through haha.  On the bright side, we had quite a few people at church!  7 actually.  And 3 of them came for the first time!  Lazarus and his wife Gloria (the ones from Pakistan) were able to make it and I think they enjoyed it!  It's always kind of nerve wracking on Fast Sundays.  Their kids weren't able to come though cause they were working.  We will have to work on that one.

Good news!  The Galvez family passed their baptismal interviews yesterday! So we are getting everything ready for their baptism this Saturday!  It's going to be awesome.  It's crazy though, cause they are moving this week as well, luckily within our ward boundaries still, so we are getting everything worked out for that as well.  It's going to be a great week!

Lazarus and his wife fed us dinner this week.  It was authentic Kuwaitian food.  It was pretty good!  Their daughter Choosy (that's her nickname.  Her real name is Paluasha which is too hard to say) made it and accidentally put waaaay to much chile's in it and it was pretty spicy.  It was still good though.  They are so nice!

Halloween wasn't too exciting.  We just planned all evening.  No one even knocked on the door or anything.  So that was cool.

Sad news.  Our neighbor Fadi moved.  Stay tuned for some pics though!  I'm gonna miss that guy.
I feel so small next to him.

His biceps are as big as my head.

Well, sounds like you all had a great week at home!  Haha I'm glad you all had a great halloween!  It sounded super fun! I love all the pics too!  Those pumpkins look awesome!!

I can't wait for those pizza rolls!  Thanks so much mom! That'll be the highlight of the week for sure!

Well, I hope you all have a fantastic week!!  I love you all! Missionary work is the best :)

Julian and Perseus.  It was a long day!

Elder Hayden goes home next week.  He's the AP, so he was able to meet us for lunch.

Crazy!

This week has been soooo crazy! I don't even know where to begin.  Monday I guess.  After emailing last week, we went to the apartment and started to relax.  Well that lasted like 5 minutes before we got a call that some elders had broken their phone, and needed us to drive to the mission office to get a new one for them.  So we did that.  Which worked out because then I was able to pick up the package and stuff!  After that we went to contact a referral that turned out to be super awesome!  We got 5 new investigators from that one!  They are super cool.  The Serrano Family. I'll come back to them in a min.   So Monday was good.  Tuesday was good but nothing really huge to report.  Wednesday. Wednesday went crazy.  It started off great, we did some service, went to lunch with the AP's, and then we contacted another referral and found 2 more investigator families!  They are from Pakistan.  The Shad Family, and the Sardar Family.  They are soooo cool! After that we went saw the Serrano family again.  This time they had a friend with them.  He's a born-again christian.  And he loves to Bible-bash.  It was bad.  I feel like we did a pretty good job of standing our ground, but it was a huge waste of time and just plain stupid.  So that put a downer on the day.  The rest of the week was pretty legit though.  Brother Marmolejo (he goes by brother Angel now) is on fire.  We met with him 3 times this week, he helps clean the church every Saturday, and he attended two sacrament meetings on Sunday, just because he likes it so much.  And he helped set up and do stuff for the ward party that we had on Saturday. It was a trunk-or-treat and it was held at this super nice venue that a member owns.  It was pretty sweet!

And that's pretty much all the really exciting things that happened this week.  We did a lot of street contacting and found quite a few potential investigators that seem pretty solid. So hopefully this next week we will pick up a bunch of new investigators as well!

Well, I hope all is going well back home.  Looks like the party was pretty awesome!  Congrats on being 16 Sadie.  Don't crash the car :)

Also, I did get those ties a while back.  The kids loved them! Thanks so much! And that pic of Lexy is so awesome!  Haha I love it.

Our plans for Halloween include working all day, and then going in at 6 to weekly plan.  woohoo!  It's a party for sure.  I'll definitely be missing those spudnuts haha.  Eat some for me!

Well, have a great week!!  The church is true :)

Tuesday, October 21, 2014

Hello Hello!

Well, this week was pretty bomb, but also kinda lame.  It was lame cause we had like 3 days where every single appointment fell through.  So that was no fun.  It was bomb though for the following reasons:

1. Elder Evans came and spoke to us!!  He is so cool!  I learned a LOT! He talked to one half of the mission on Thursday, and he talked to my half of the mission of Friday and I guess he talked about completely different things in each one.  I guess on Thursday he talked a lot about how to use Family History in our proselyting efforts, as well as preparing ourselves spiritually for when we finally get iPads which will probably be in January.  And then on Friday he talked to us a lot about marriage, and kind of just a bunch of random stuff haha.  He just got up and started talking and just went wherever he really wanted to.  It was awesome!  He told us how he got married 3 months after his mission, and one of the twelve ( I think it was Elder Scott but I'm not for sure) asked him why it took him so long!  Haha cause Elder Scott got married two weeks after I guess.  No worries, I won't be getting married that fast. One of the things that Elder Evans spoke about in both however, was asking everyone for referrals.  In every single teaching opportunity.  So we did a thing where after the conference, we asked everyone and then texted the Mission President the results.  In the first night of asking everyone, the mission as a whole received over 100 referrals.  It's crazy!  So that's what we have been really working on.  Asking for referrals.

2.  We took brother Marmolejo with us to a baptism at the church on Saturday.  Up until this point, he has refused to set a baptismal date with us.  Well, right before the baptism started, he leaned over and said "What do I have to do to be baptized?"  We were only too happy to tell him.  So now he is on date for November 15!!  He is super stoked.  He was telling everyone about it at church yesterday haha.  So that was pretty bomb.

3.  All of our other investigators are doing really well too!  Sister Armstrong wasn't able to come to church yesterday cause she was out of town, but she is doing really well.  The Galvez family was able to make it to church yesterday and they are all really excited to be baptized on nov 8.  We also got some referrals last week for some pretty solid people!  So hopefully we will be picking up some more investigators this week.  That would be good.

So yeah, that was mainly what went on this week.  It was pretty great! Sounds like everything is going pretty well in good ol PG.  Happy Birthday Sadie! Your party sounds like it's going to be crazy! Fun stuff!    Sun Valley sounds super fun too!  I wasn't able to get any of those pictures that you sent though.  They never arrived.  :(

Well, I hope you all have a great week!!  The Church is True :)

Spread!

Hello!  This week was pretty good!  Nothing really super exciting happened though.  Everyone is doing really well.  The Armstrong's are doing really great, although Rayaa is progressing a lot more than her mom because her mom can't get to church very easily.  So we are focusing more on Rayaa right now.  She is still on date for November 8.  The other people we have on date for the 8 is the Galvez family!  They are super awesome!  We had a good lesson with them last night.  They are just super awesome.  Brother Marmolejo is doing really well also!  Although he's kinda sick right now which is a bummer.

So, we were at Carlos and Grace's house last night and we got there as they were just finishing up dinner.  And guess what they were having?  It's called Spread.  Basically, it's prison food.  Haha inmates just throw everything they have into a paper or plastic bag and mix it all together and it's called Spread.  And Carlos makes some crazy spread.  Well, he didn't tell me what was in it until I had tried it, which is a good thing cause if I'd known what was in it I would never have tried it.  It had ramen, beans, tuna, mayo, mustard, bread, jalepinos, and a bunch of other stuff that he just had laying around haha.  It looked really nasty but it really didn't taste too bad.  I wouldn't ever eat it again but hey, I tried it.  You should be proud of me haha.

But yeah, that's really about all the exciting things that happened last week!

Sounds like a lot of fun back home though! The ward party sounded super fun!

Hahaha Lucie you are so funny.  Isn't Ammon cool! And you really need to not do handstands in the tub hahaha.  That's dangerous! And way to win your soccer game again!

Well, I hope you all have a fantastic week!! I love you all!!

GC Weekend!

Man, General Conference is so bomb.  It goes by so fast!!  I remember when It used to just drag on forever and ever.  But now it goes by just way too fast!  There were so many good talks! I can't even pick my favorite. Plus, I accidentally left my notebook, so I can't even peruse my notes haha.  We watched it at the stake center.  And sadly, I wasn't able to make butterscotch rolls.  sad day.

Oh and I got my new companion this week. Elder Webb is a pretty sweet guy!! We get along really well.  He is from Eagle Mtn. Utah.  So pretty close!  I just keep getting companions that live near by haha! He's really cool.  He's been out for about a year total, but he just came back to the mission a couple transfers ago.  He had to go home for 9 months for some back problems.  So good news is, as long as he is my comp, I will definitely be having a car! Haha.  We are co-ZLs.  Yes, it was kinda weird to send a missionary home.  He tried his hardest not to be trunky but he was.  Haha #struggle

Our investigators are doing really well though!  We put Sister Armstrong and Sister Armstrong on date to be baptized.  We are shooting for Nov 8.  So if it all works out, we would have about 6 baptisms that day!  That would be so bomb haha. :)

Sorry I haven't sent pics yet.  I will definitely send some next week.  Cause I forgot my camera today :(  Sorry!!

I'm glad to hear everything is going well in Utah!!  It sounds like a blast!!  That Tail-gate party sounds super fun!

That temple was awesome!! Way to go Lucie!!  It looks super good!

Well, I'm just about outta time.  Hope you all have a wonderful week!!  Love you all!!

Love, Elder Wise

P.S.  Haha yeah she's home! Crazy!  She emailed me actually haha.  She's cool
P.P.S  I'm glad you got the letter! Let me know how it goes!

A Great Finale!

Well last week was just a great week to end the transfer!  The baptisms went really well!  Tony, Angel, Raul, and Jayro are officially members! Yay!!  It was so awesome! I'll send some pics in a bit.  We also got a car this week!  A silver Chevy Colorado truck!  It's nice.  Really fun to drive.  Reminds me of the jeep actually!  Which, by the way, I am glad is staying in utah!  Although I'm a little sad I won't be getting a new Rubicon.  Oh well.  Maybe someday.

This last week we were also able to find 5 new investigators!! It was so awesome!  And they have been so prepared be the Lord! They are just Golden!  Two of them are Carlos' and Grace's upstairs neighbors.  Sister Armstrong and her mom Sister Armstrong. We did what it says to do in PMG and asked if we could call them Sister and they really love it haha.  They introduced themselves as Sister Armstrong at church yesterday.  It was awesome!  And they have more family in the home, and they loved church so much that they want us to start teaching everybody so we will probably gain a few more investigators from them!

We also started teaching a guy named Angel Marmolejo (Brother Marmolejo) and his son Angel Marmolejo.  Haha they are super awesome too!   For some reason they weren't able to come to church yesterday, but we met with them twice last week and they are just super awesome.

So we found out about transfers today!  I will be staying here in Colton for another 6 weeks! And my new companion will be Elder Webb.  I don't know too much about him but he sounds like a super fun guy.  So I'm pretty stoked!

Also, this last week we got to watch Meet the Mormons.  It was AWESOME!  I would totally recommend going to see it!  It was pretty bomb.  I wish I could see it again.  It'll have you laughing one second, and crying the next.  Oh and guess what is in it?  It shows some people skiing at Snowbird and climbing at Momentum!  It's great.  That part made me homesick though haha.  But anyways, it's sick.

Well, that's about it for the update here.  I'm glad everything is going well at home!  Way to win your game lucie!  Soccer in the rain is the BEST! Haha I love it.

Have a great week!! Love you all!

One down, Four to go!

This week was super awesome!  Nathan got baptized!! Yay!  It went really well!  I'll definitely be sending some pics.  Let's see, what else happened this week?

I think it hit about 112 the other day.  It's soooo hot! Luckily, it's cooled down a lot the last couple days.  Only in the 90's.  Phew! Sadly, we still don't have a car.  It'll probably be coming in the next couple days.  Hopefully!

I'm sure you've probably heard about it.  But the church has come out with a movie!  Its called Meet the Mormons!  It's even going to be in theaters and stuff!  It's pretty cool.  We get to watch it this coming Thursday. I'm pretty stoked!  It's supposed to be really good!  It follows the lives of 6 mormon families.  It's not meant to be a proselyting tool, just an informative movie so people can see how mormons really are.

This upcoming week we have 4 baptisms!  Tony, Angel, Raul, and Jayro.  It's going to be awesome!!  They are all really looking forward to it! I'll be sure to take lot's of pics!

I'm glad to hear everything is going well at home! Sounds like you all had a fun week!  Way to win your game lucie!  That's fun that everyone got to watch the temple dedication!  I wish they could broadcast that everywhere!  That woulda been sweet!

And I'm glad to hear that the missionaries there are doing good work.  That's really good.

So Jim isn't going out to utah anymore?  Does that mean they aren't buying the jeep?  I would really miss the jeep, but if Dugan really wants it that would probs be ok.  Maybe we could replace it with a Rubicon?  Or a Wrangler?  Or maybe a Harley.  All of those would be acceptable replacements haha.  :)

Well, I hope you all have a fantastic week!!  I love you all!

HOT!

Yeah, this week has been HOT! I've been dying.  Even when there's a breeze it doesn't help much.  It's super hot air.  It feels like a hair dryer is blowing in my face.  Oh well, the good news is I probably won't be on bike for too much longer!! YAY!  The ward boundaries changed this last week and so our area's changed as well.  I am now in the Colton 1st ward.  It's a pretty huge ward.  It's going to require a car so they are working on getting us one.  The other cool part about all this is that we only lost like 3 investigators!  We lost Mike, and Leonard, and a couple others who weren't progressing anyways.  Pretty much our entire teaching pool is intact.  Plus, we gained a golden family of 5 from the other Elders, and an investigator from the Sisters!  So all in all, this change has worked out quite well for us! Plus, 9 investigators came to church again!  So we have been really happy this week.  It's been good.  That's pretty much all that has really happened this week though.  It's just been kind of hectic with all the changes.  But this next week should be a great time!

Sounds like it's been fun at home!!  Way to go Lucie for playing soccer! I'm glad you like it!! Those pics are awesome! Go number 7!  haha

The carpenters had their baby!! Congrats!! That's awesome!  I love gingers!

I'm glad to hear that the ward didn't change much with the rearrangement of boundaries! It would be weird to come home to a bunch of people who weren't there when I left haha.  So I'm glad it's pretty much the same.

Dinner with the Carlson's sounds awesome! Malawi's pizza is delicious!

That is the coolest story about Elder Nelson!!  I love hearing cool Apostle stories every week haha!  That is so cool!

Well, Thanks for all your support and love!! I hope you have a great week!!  Love you!

One Year Gone...

Whoa, time is just flying by!  I can't believe it's been a whole year!  CRAY-CRAY!  This week was pretty bomb though. Let me tell ya.  I guess the reason it turned out so well was because of church yesterday! We had 9 investigators there!  It was truly a miracle.  Because of the special meeting, we had church at the stake center which is pretty far away, so we figured it might be kinda hard to get everybody over there.  The majority of our investigators are youth, or don't have cars.  So that's a bummer.  But everything worked out and we had a whole bunch of members help with giving rides and we were able to get everyone there!  It was awesome!

And the special meeting was because the stake has reorganized all the ward boundaries!  As a result of this however, Elder Urry and I no longer live in the Bloomington ward boundaries, and so we might be switching to a different ward.  The Colton ward.  We won't know for sure though until tomorrow.

Let's see, what else happened??  Umm, oh we had MLC last week! It was pretty good!  We learned a lot of really cool things.  It was fun because normally in these meetings, the President covers a lot of things about rules, and other nuts'n'bolts type stuff.  But in this last meeting we were able to dive more into doctrine and stuff! We talked a lot about conversion and how our investigators can become more converted if we as missionaries are converted.  We also talked a lot about the Book of Mormon.  It's so cool!  There is no way that the book of mormon isn't true.  Just sayin.  :)

This is kinda cool too.  The Mission President has allowed us an extra 30 minutes of companion study in the mornings! This is to be used to watch the District 1 DVD's which are all about planning.  For the last several months there has been a big push on planning and how to plan correctly and the District DVD's help so much!  So we are stoked about that!

I'm so glad to hear that the baptism went well and everything!!  Congrats lucie!! :) I'm so proud of you! It sounded so fun!!

I got all the packages this week!  Thank you so much!!  They were perfect!  We ended up going out to eat the next day.  Cause hump day was the day we had MLC so there wasn't much time.  It was delicious! Thanks so much!

Wow!! That story about that girl is incredible!
Well, I'm just about out of time.  I hope you all have an amazing week!!  I love you all!! This church is true and being a missionary is the best!

Oh boy.

Well last week was interesting.  Most of our appointments fell through and stuff just did not work out. Plus, I have some bad news.  Both Tony and Nathan's baptisms have had to be pushed back :(  They are both doing super awesome! But Nathan's mom ended up not being able to have work off this saturday, so we have to push Nathan back to September 20.  And Tony is still doing amazing with not smoking and stuff but due to certain things outside of our control, they want to push his baptism back until he has come to church 4 times in a row consecutively.  It is a huge long story and we were sure that it wasn't going to be an issue because he's been to church enough times to be baptized, but they want him to come consecutively.  I'm so sorry Lucie!!  I tried my hardest!  We almost had it!  The good thing is that they will still be baptized this transfer.  I was so so sad though.  Ugh.
Our investigator Angel is doing really well also, but we just found out yesterday that his family has to move to Fontana (a neighboring city) and will be gone before his baptism.  So he will have to be baptized into whatever ward he is moving into.  Hopefully!! We will have to get all his information to the missionaries over there.

Carlos is doing fantastic.  It's kind of fun because we have been able to teach him things that are a lot deeper in doctrine, than we have before.  He's heard all the simple basic stuff so often that he has it down.  So this last week we got to teach stuff we don't normally get to teach! It's lots of fun!

There is a special meeting with all of the English wards in the stake this Sunday and we think they are changing the ward boundaries out here as well!  So we are really excited to see what happens on sunday.  It could change a lot of things!

Sounds like you all had a lot of fun this last week!!  I'm so jealous about the story telling festival!  That is so fun!! Haha I miss that!  And sounds like things for the baptism are going to be awesome!! I am so sad that I'll be missing it! I'll send the talk in another email though.  I wrote it about baptism.  So hopefully it works!

I'm glad we have some good missionaries in the stake finally!  That's awesome! And I know Sister Sablan!  I don't know her really well but I've met her.  That's super cool! She's a great Sister!

Well, sorry this wasn't the most awesome letter.  It's kind of a let down actually.  Lots of bad news. :(  Next week will be better though!  Lot's of stuff going down this week!
Love you all!!

Carlos was Baptized!!!

Wow this week was awesome!!  Carlos' baptism went so well!!  There was only one problem.  I forgot my camera!  I was so sad.  Luckily, everyone else had theirs and they are sending me all their pics.  So don't worry, there will still be some pics coming.  Carlos wanted Elder Raff to baptize him, so we got to see him too!  All the Elders who have worked with Carlos over the last few months were there.  Elder Hayden, Elder Raff, Elder Urry, and Myself.  Plus a few others.  It was very well attended!!  And then he got confirmed yesterday during church!  It was so awesome!  He felt the Holy Ghost so strong!!  He said "I've never felt anything so strongly in my whole life!"  It was just awesome.  And now his brother David is even more stoked to be baptized!!  And Carlos is getting ready to get the priesthood so that he can baptize his brother.  It's just so sweet!!
Tony has been doing really great as well!  Although he has been sick the last couple of day so we haven't been able to meet with him.  But we had an amazing lesson with him earlier in the week!  The night before he had had a really amazing experience where his prayers were answered pretty much immediately and so all during the lesson he was just bearing his testimony that he "Knows without a doubt that God is there, and that he answers prayers".  He was so happy and full of the spirit it was unreal!!  The best part though was that after the lesson, which was about missionary work (which he has been doing!), he was riding away on his bike and he didn't know we were watching and he punched the air.  Breakfast Club status haha! It was just so awesome.  He is so excited to be baptized!

The other elders in our ward had a baptism last night as well!  And guess who was there?!  Rick Willinsky!! He's my favorite!!  He drove Elder Thompson down here so he could be at the baptism and Rick new I was down here so he wanted to come see me!  It was so great to see him again!

That's really all the highlights of the week.  Everyone is just doing great!

Sounds like everything is going well at home! I'm glad to hear the first week of school went well haha! I haven't gotten your package yet but I'm sure it'll come this week! Also, my 7-11 card is just about out haha.  It's crazy that I've been out for a year!  Cray-cray!!

Well, Hope you have a great week!!!  Love you all!!

Solar Flare

It's just been one of those weeks.  Totally awesome!!!! There's all sorts of stuff to talk about today haha.  First off, what does Solar Flare mean?  Well I will tell you.  Solar Flare is the new flavor of Mountain Dew that is only available at my favorite place, 7-11.  I drank a lot of it this week!  It has been quite hot!  That gift card really saved my life this week! haha It's delicious!
The biggest news is this:  Carlos got off probation early!!!!  He is being baptized this upcoming saturday, August 23, at 10:00 in the morning.  It's so awesome!!  He is super stoked.  I am too! And we have started to really teach his twin brother David and we set a baptism date with him for October 11 and Carlos is going to do it!  It's just so great!

The second biggest news is that I'm not being transferred!!  Elder Urry and I will be together for one more transfer.  It's kinda crazy cause he goes home at the end of this one!  Cray-Cray!

Third biggest news: although Mike isn't going to make his baptismal date for September 6, we have a different investigator that is going to be baptized that day!  The one and only Nathan Pacheco.  Alex's little bro.  And we are going to have Alex baptize him! That's going to be totally awesome!  Also, Tony is still doing really well, and if he can go the next couple weeks without smoking, will be baptized on september 2, as planned.  Also, Angel is doing really well, and we are still planning on baptizing him on september 20.

The fourth biggest news:  We had a really good turn out at church yesterday!  A total of 7 investigators came to church!  Talk about awesome! Three of the investigators who came are three new ones that we picked up this last week.  A family was moving into the apartment complex where Carlos lives and so we helped them move some stuff, and it turns out that the mom was baptized about 5 years ago and she want's her kids to be baptized as well and the best part is they actually want to do it too!  Not just cause their mom wants them too.  So that's awesome!  We will be setting baptismal dates with them this upcoming week probably.

So as you can see, this week was just super awesome!!  Although I had some bike troubles this week.  A couple flat tires.  That's always a pain.  But it's alright.  All taken care of.
But yeah, that's about all the exciting news for this week!  Sounds like everything is going well at home!!  School is starting again huh?  That's fun!  Sometimes I think I miss school and then I remember that I don't haha.  Maybe in another year I will miss it more.  Hopefully, cause I got a lot of school left!

Those games for the sophomore day sound super fun!!  I wish I could watch them haha!

Chances of me going back to the desert?  Hopefully high!! I love it out there!!  In reality though, I don't really know if I'll ever get back out there. :(  I'll be praying for it though!

Haha that's awesome you are going out to lunch with the carlsons!  I think I will have to go out to eat somewhere that day too!  It's so crazy that we've been out a year already!
Well, I hope you all have a really great week!!  Thanks for all your prayers and love!  This church is true.  No doubt in my mind!

Hola!

Well this week was pretty good!  It was a lot cooler this week than last week so that was good.  It was only like 90's all week.  Nice and cool!

The investigators are doing well.  Carlos is still progressing great!  And we have started teaching his twin brother David who is super cool too! So that was awesome!  Tony and Mike are doing alright.  The smoking thing is definitely an issue.  They need to stop smoking like today, if they are gonna make it by september.  We are praying so hard!!  Angel is doing really well too!  He is just such a little stud.  Haha he's so cool.  Shery is doing ok but she has to move out of her apartment, so she might be moving away.  We will probably refer her to the missionaries wherever she ends up moving.
Let's see, we had MLC this week!  I really enjoy MLC.  We learned a lot about how we can work with members. Tomorrow is Zone meeting so we get to teach all the other missionaries about it now! Woohoo!  I am kind of excited to be able to go home and just be a member missionary haha.  They get to do all the really fun stuff!  That's not to say I don't have fun as a full time missionary though.  It's a blast!!

This is the last week of the transfer, so it's gonna be a boss week!  Next monday I will find out if I'm staying in Colton or heading on to another place.  I kind of hope I get to stay one more transfer.  Then I will get to see Carlos and Angel and Mike and Tony be baptized.  That would be the best!

Well, that's really all that went down this week.  I'm glad you are all having fun in Montana!  I am seriously, SOOOOOO Jealous!!!

And I'm glad to hear the auction went well mom!  That sounded super fun!!

Well, I hope you all have a fantastic week!! I love you guys!

Love, Elder Wise

P.S.  I'll send some pics since my letter was kinda short.  Sorry!

Sooooo many black widows by Carlos' house!

This is George.  Sherry's son.  He is pretty much the cutest kid ever!

Rain Rain Rain

It cooled down this week!  It was only high 80's!  And it rained.  Hard.  Torrential downpour for like 3 hours.  Luckily, we were able to camp out at a members house for a while.  When the rain finally slowed down we were able to ride again.  We got pretty soaked.  The roads were all flooded.  We were riding through like a foot of water.  It was really fun!  It only lasted a day though.  Now it's back to being hot.
This week was pretty good!  We had a Zone Conference which was pretty good. We learned a lot about how we can help members with their missionary work.  It should help a TON!  So I am excited to start working on that.

Our investigators are still doing well!  Mike is still kind of struggling with smoking and drinking.  So pray hard for him!  He's the one being baptized on the 6.  And Tony is also still struggling with that.  Carlos is still doing awesome! Still no word from the First Presidency yet though.  Hopefully soon!

Other than that, this week was kinda boring.  Nothing much really went on.

That auction sounds super fun though mom!  I bet that will be sweet!

I'm so sad to hear about Gunnar.  Darn. I will keep praying for him.

When do you need the talk for Lucie's baptism?  I need a deadline haha.

Yeah I got the Montana Package!  It was awesome!! Thanks so much!!

And I will definitely write to Sadie this week.  No problem haha.

Love you all!  Have a great week!!!

Love, Elder Wise

P.S.  Sorry this one was kinda short.  I'm super short on time today.

Can you say HOT?!

Man, this week was HOT.  111 degrees Fahrenheit with over 50% humidity.  And we ride around on our bikes in that!  It's a good time though!  We have a pretty good excuse for just knocking on someone's door and asking for water.  Which then we can talk to them while we drink! So it works out.
This last week was really good though!  My new bike came in so that's good.  It is a bit cheaper version of my last one.  Cheaper shifting mechanisms and handles and stuff.  But a bike is a bike!  So I'm glad to have that back.
Let's see, what else?  Umm we had quite a few lessons this week! So that was good!  Had several people come to church and found some new investigators.  We are pretty stoked about that.  And this last week I also got to go on exchanges with Elder Seright!  That was a great time!  It was fun being his companion again for a day.  Even though it is kinda weird, cause now I'm my trainers ZL which means I'm supposed to train him now on stuff.  That was kinda weird.  Fun though!  We had a really good day!  Plus, In'n'Out is in his area so we got to go eat out!
This morning for a P-Day activity we went and played soccer at the park again!  That was lots of fun!  I think I got a little sun-burned though.  Haha
This week should be pretty fun!  We have a mini Zone Conference on Thursday, and we just have a lot of work lined up for this week so it should be awesome!
Here's a little update on some of our investigators.
Carlos: Still waiting for approval
Angel: 12 yrs old, getting baptized sep 20  doing really well!
This is Angel.
This is his sister Angela.
Tony: Still trying to quit smoking.  Getting baptized Sep 2
Mike: Still trying to quit smoking, Getting baptized Sep 6.  Doing really well.  He's so awesome!
Hopefully this upcoming week we will be able to get some more of our investigators on date for baptism.  We have quite a lot of people we are teaching, just most of them don't want to progress.  It's kind of annoying.  I love them all though.

Well, I hope you all have a great week!!  Missionary work is super awesome! Love you all!

Loooong week

Well this week was pretty good.  I didn't get my new bike in the mail yet.  I've been using Elder Haydens bike for the last couple weeks since he doesn't need it out in the desert.  The bike guy told me he was sending me the same bike I had before, so if he sends me a cheaper crappier one I'm gonna be mad.  Although it'll be nice to have a bike of my own again haha.  Elder Hayden's bike is pretty beat up.
Let's see, what else happened this week?  Umm, not really anything super exciting I don't think.  We went on exchanges this week.  I went with Elder Woolf.  We had a really great time! On Thursday Elder Urry's eye swelled up really huge and was super red so we just hung out at the apartment for a couple hours until the swelling went back down.

Our investigators are all doing really well!  Mike, Carlos, Angel, Tony, and Alma are doing great.  They are just so awesome!  Mike, and Tony and Carlos all came to church.  We are working on getting Angel and Alma there.   This week for sure!!

I wish I had some cool stories from this week, but it was a pretty laid back week.  Which is probably why it felt so long.  Not very many exciting things went down.  Just lots of work.  Everything is going great!

Sounds like a crazy week in PG!!  Sounds like a lot of fun though!!!

Man this email is short.  Sorry!!  Hopefully next week will have a lot more things to report on.  Hope you all have a fantastic week!  I love you all!  Cali is a great, hot, sweltering, skin burning, place!

ARE YOU FOR REALS????

People here have problems.  The main one being thievery.  Let me explain.  Last tuesday started out like any other day.  We had Zone meeting in the morning though which Elder Hayden and I have the opportunity to teach.  So no worries.  Well, we get to the church, put our bikes in the back room, set up the chairs, prop open the front door so other missionaries could come in, and then waited for everyone to show up.  Well, they showed up and the other elders put their bikes in the same back room, and zone meeting started. 2 hours later zone meeting ended and we cleaned up and went to go get on our bikes and head to lunch.  Well, my bike wasn't there.  What??  How could it be gone?  Yup, someone walked in through the front door, sneaked past the room we were in, grabbed my bike, and walked back out with it.  How rude.  It is still missing to this day.  Although we have many people on the look out for it. Did we buy the warranty/insurance thing when we bought the bike?  Might want to look that up.
The rest of the week went really well!  I got a new companion.  Elder Urry.  He's from Ogden Utah and he's super cool. We get along great!  He is almost done with his mission actually.  He only has like 3 months left.  Cray-cray!

Well, other than my bike getting stolen, this week wasn't super exciting.  Although we did teach quite a few lessons which was awesome!  27 total for the week I think.  We currently have 6 investigators on date to be baptized, and hopefully we will get a couple more this next week.

Sounds like we will be having another mission conference coming up!  In august, Elder Evans of the First Quorum of the Seventy will be coming!  He is the Seventy who is in charge of everything missionary related.  Like everything.  He speaks at every mission presidents seminar, and is in contact with the 12 all the time.  So that'll be super cool!

Well, I hope you all have a super fantastic and fun week!!!  I love you all!!!  Missionary work is the BOMB!

Transfers!!

What a week!!  It's been pretty unreal.  Let's see...Well, the good news is that I won't be getting transferred!!! I'll be staying here in Colton for another 6 weeks.  Elder Hayden is leaving though!  My new companion will be Elder Urry.  He's a pretty cool guy.  And I'll still be ZL.  So that's exciting!  We had a really great week too!  We now have 6 investigators on date to be baptized!!  Their names are as follows: Alma, Anthony, Mike, Tony, Shery, and Carlos.  Woohoo!!  That's exciting!  Plus, Tony is going to be baptized on September 2, and Mike on September 6.  And we still don't know about Carlos but it's looking like it'll probably be September and we are hoping for the 6.  So we might be having 2 baptisms that day!!!  So that's totally awesome!  We had 4 investigators at church yesterday too which was awesome!  Tony, Mike, and Mike's two grandsons.  So that was just awesome.
Also, some exciting news, I experienced my first earthquake!!!  It was CRAY-CRAY!!  It was a 4.6.  The whole apartment shook for a good like 5 seconds, even though it felt like a lot longer haha.  So that was super exciting.

We found 3 new investigators this week which was totally awesome.  One of them, William, is pretty cool. He is mikes neighbor and he just walked up to us during a lesson with mike and joined in with us and we asked him if we could start teaching him too, and he said yes.  So that was cool!  And he was going to come to church with us, but he ended up not being able too.  So hopefully next week!

4th of July was a good time.  Super duper hot though.  It was over 100 degrees by 11 in the morning. It was supposed to hit like 112 but I don't know if it made it all the way up there.  All I know is that I was dying.  We had to go back to the apartment at 6 pm to avoid danger.  So we just weekly planned and watched fireworks until 10:30 from our balcony.  So it was fun.  Not nearly as fun as montana or anything, but it was still alright.  We also had MLC this last week which was a fun time!  I learned A LOT!  President Van Cott knows more about the scriptures and doctrine than anyone I've ever met haha.  He blows my mind.

But yeah, it was a pretty good week! I am looking forward to another transfer here in the ghetto of colton haha!

I'm soooooo jealous that you are all in Montana!  Those pictures are fantastic!! Keep having a blast!
I love you all!! Missionary work is a BLAST!

Last Week of the Transfer!

Man this transfer went fast.  A week from today i will know if I'll be staying in Colton or shipping off to somewhere else.  This last week was pretty good though.  Really hot!!  A new slurpee card would be awesome!! Haha .  This week was kind of slow though.  Not a whole lot of exciting things happened.  We went on some exchanges though.  Which was kinda fun. Not because of the exchange itself, but because while we were on the exchange, we ran into a bunch of huge, tattooed, pierced guys filming a music video.  They were making it for a rapper named Lil Shawn.  Anyways, while we rode past all these huge dudes waved us over and they wanted to take pictures with us so we did.  They also filmed us for a bit.  So that was cool! Mormon missionaries in the rapper music video!  So that was exciting.

Carlos is still doing really well.  We are still waiting for approval to baptize him though.  And Mike is doing well also!  We are going to set a baptism date with him this week hopefully!  So that's awesome!

I don't know if I told this to you guys already, but every week we have a scripture study class at the church on Wednesdays.  It's a fun time.  Elder Hayden and I are the main teachers.  We just switch off every week.  I taught it this week.  It went pretty well!  We discussed the topic "How can I avoid sin?"  So that was a fun time.  Actually, I taught that lesson right after we took all the pics with the rappers.

The other cool thing that happened this week is that a new initiative has come out for members and missionaries.  It's called JustServe.org.  It's pretty cool!  As missionaries we will now be required to do about 10 hours of service every week. So that will be fun! Zone leaders play a pretty cool role in JustServe.org too which is kinda cool.  I enjoy seeing the "behind the scenes" of the church.  I get to see how the church rolls out new programs/initiatives.  I don't know.  It's just cool.

Sounds like a good time this week back in Utah!! I'm so jealous about all the parties and stuff that went on haha.  I'm glad to hear that GG is still going strong!!  And the Thunderbirds are always awesome!

Way to go Sadie!  A 26 is a great score!

Well, I hope you all have a great week!!  I love you all!!!

Hey Guys!

A Note From Mom:  The Priest quorum adviser approached me on Sunday and asked if I would have E. Wise write a letter to the priests in our ward explaining why he went on a mission.  This is Elder Wise's reply.  I thought you might like to see it.

Hey guys!!  I hope you are all doing well! I just wanted to tell you a little bit about why I decided to serve a mission.  Serving a mission was something I had pretty much always planned on doing.  But when the time came to really decide if I was going to go or not, I wasn't really sure.  But there wass one thing that I knew for sure.  It was that I held the priesthood.  What does that have to do with anything?  Well let me tell ya.  As priesthood holders we enter into a covenant. And part of that covenant is to serve others.  If we hold the priesthood, it is our DUTY and RESPONSIBILITY to serve others.  That is something that we promised we would do.  And the scriptures tell us very clearly, in D&C 89, that those who break this covenant, will not have remission of sins in this life or the life to come.  Well that's kinda scary!  The blessings that come from serving others are incredible.   Something I've noticed before my mission as well as on my mission is that serving others brings more happiness than anything in the whole world.  No joke.  It is the greatest thing ever to know that you were able to bless someone's life and help them out.  It's not always easy, but as we sacrifice for the Lord's children, we are blessed, and more importantly, they are blessed!  So that's why I decided to serve a mission.  I wanted to fulfill my priesthood responsibility, and serve others.  And it's the greatest thing ever!  And if you don't believe me, then try it!  It's blessed my life so so so so much!  I am so thankful for this chance I have to be serving a mission.  Love you guys!
